SHINee to perform at Abbey Road Studios in London to celebrate their Japanese debut

27 Apr

Via tokyohive:

Popular South Korean group SHINee is scheduled to make their major debut in Japan in on June 22nd with their single “Replay” and what is a better way to celebrate this achievement than performing at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London?

That’s exactly what their record label and owner of the studio, EMI Music thought and thus they invited the group to perform at the studios that once inspired legends such as The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

At first it might sound awkward to perform in London to celebrate your Japanese debut, but things become more clear once you understand that Japanese fans actually get the chance to win a ticket for that special performance, and SHINee already has a lot of Japanese fans. Back in December the group held two performances in Tokyo and mobilized a total of 24,000 fans, but more than 100,000 people actually tried to get their hands on the tickets.

Experiencing a performance of SHINee at the Abbey Road Studios is special because they will not only be the very first Asian artists to perform at the studios, it is also a much more intimate atmosphere with the biggest room only giving space to a total of 130 people.

Fans who want to be among those 130 people will have to keep an eye out for special projects on the mobile download sites Recochoku and MOBAEMI starting on April 28th. Not much details are known a the moment and so far this seems to be the only way to get an invitation for the special performance.

The group made a statement about the upcoming performance, “Since it is such a famous studio, we’re really going to anticipate the performance. I hope you will look forward to it as well, because no matter where we are, we will always work hard in order to give back your support through great songs and great performances in typical SHINee fashion.”

EMI also plans to film the performance and distribute the resulting DVD in many countries, not just Japan.

SHINee to officially debut in Japan with “Replay” in June

27 Apr

SM Entertainment revealed today that SHINee will join the wave of K-pop artists promoting in Japan. A Japanese version of “Replay,” which was also their debut song in Korea, is the first single slated for release.

Though the single will be officially released in Japan on June 22nd, it won’t be the boys’ first time performing in the country. They had an extremely successful concert last December at the YoyogiGroup Stadium, performing to a sold-out show of 24,000 adoring fans.

Japanese fans will be able to download the new version of “Replay” as a ringtone for their mobile phones later this week on April 28th.

SHINee and f(x) pair up for ‘Auction’ photoshoot

26 Mar

Popular idol groups SHINee and f(x) put on their best spring clothes for their photoshoot with online shopping mall, ‘Auction‘.

For the site’s spring catalog, the members of SHINee and f(x) were outfitted in bright, colorful patterns, which were balanced by their sweet, pastel-hued props.

As ever, SHINee’s Onew proved himself to be a great leader by taking the initiative to create a relaxed environment. The idol joked around with the staff and colleagues, and ensured that everyone was smiling through the long hours.

The f(x) members also brought their professional outlooks, as staff members reported that the girls barely looked tired, even though the shoot lasted for two days. f(x)’s Victoria played the role of ‘big sister’ well by giving the younger ones snacks during breaks.

The groups created two ‘couples’ (OnewSulli and Minho-Victoria) for the shoot, and they worked perfectly together, as expected of the close labelmates.

SHINee and f(x) will act as Auction’s models for a year, starting this March.

Netizens Create A Virtual Cast Of SM’s Korean Adaptation Drama of “Hana Kimi”

13 Mar

SM Entertainment announced that they would be producing the Korean adaptation of the Japanese manga “Hana Kimi” on March 10th. The topic has gotten many fans excited and even resulted in “Hana Kimi” trending on Twitter a few minutes after announcements. Netizens began to make their own virtual cast of the upcoming drama.

“Hana Kimi” has already received hot reactions in Taiwan and Japan with their live adaptation of the drama in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The storyline of “Hana Kimi” is about a girl who enters an all-boy high school disguised as a male.

This announcement from SM Entertainment follows the successful ending of the JYP Entertainment produced idol drama “Dream High.” Netizens have been speculating that the majority of the Korean “Hana Kimi” cast will be portrayed by SM artists since the company will be in charge of producing it.

A SM Entertainment representative has said regarding the cast, “There will be SM artists casted in the drama, but not everyone will be included.”

Netizens have listed the possibilities of the following SM idol cast:

Mizuki Ashiya (female lead)- Taeyeon (SNSD), Sulli f(x)
Mizuki Ashiya is the lead female character in “Hana Kimi” who disguises herself as a male high school student to help the high-jumper, Izumi Sano, jump again.

Izumi Sano (male lead): Minho (SHINee), Eunhyuk (Super Junior)
Izumi Sano is the lead male lead character. He suddenly stopped high-jumping for unknown reasons and finds out Ashiya Mizuki’s true gender accidentally early in the series.

Shuichi Nakatsu (second male lead): Sungmin (Super Junior)
Nakatasu becomes Ashiya’s close friend at Osaka Gakuen (Academy) and begins to realize his feelings for her, not realizing she is actually female. He becomes conflicted with himself, thinking that he is a homosexual, and becomes jealous of Sano for being close with Ashiya.

Minami Nanba (head dorm of 2nd dormitory) – Changmin (TVXQ)
Nanba is the head dorm of the 2nd dormitory and a “ladies man” with multiple girlfriends at a time (when he’s not found out). The 2nd dormitory includes a mix of athletic and scholar students. The 1st dormitory mainly consists of athletes, while the 3rd mainly consists of artistic and intelligent students.

Hokuto Umeda (school doctor) – Heechul (Super Junior), Yunho (TVXQ)
The hot homosexual doctor at Osaka Gakuen. He is the first to know about Ashiya’s true gender and gives her advice and acts as her mentor throughout the series. Umeda is Nanba’s uncle.

The Korean adaptation of “Hana Kimi” is set to air this summer with a total of 16 episodes. Which SM artist do you think should play which role? Do you like the netizens suggestions above?
